Two Distinct Paths
For the past 15 years, I have been exploring two distinct paths in my work; Original, Mixed-Media Collage and Digital Fine Art Prints.
My abstract works are influenced by advertising, architecture, nature and artists including; Robert Rauschenberg, Andy Warhol, and Jean-Michel Basquiat.
MIXED MEDIA COLLAGES
As an experimental painter, I both embrace and break the rules of composition, manipulating color, shape and depth until a thought provoking image is created.
Mixed media is combined with layering treated paper, acrylic paint, and various varnishes using both an additive and subtractive collage process. The final works are sealed with high-quality clear lacquer.
DIGITAL
My original photography is entered into the digital realm and combined with other imagery. Very often this work contains recognizable elements. Some of this work is hand embellished using traditional painting tools. These elements are blended to give ordinary objects a dreamy, painterly look.
SUMMARY
When a collage is working successfully, a visual rhythm can develop between the elements in the work. I strive to find a pleasing balance between intuitive spontaneity and conscious composition.
Commission work welcome. Some prints are available in custom sizes.
